Visits different places in Khammam to discuss measures to ease traffic movement
Khammam: Police department has been making continuous efforts for traffic regulation and to ease traffic congestion on roads, stated Commissioner of Police (CP) Tafseer Iqubal.
He along with traffic and one town police station officers visited many places in the city on Tuesday and discussed measures for smooth flow of vehicular traffic. He said several steps were being taken towards traffic regulation in view of growing population and vehicles.
As part of such measures traffic signals were restored in the city to provide better facilities to the people. Traffic signals would help to ease congestions on roads, the CP said.
In order to avoid traffic jams at junctions the duration of traffic signals must be set high. The city has to be divided into eight sectors. One Sub-inspector has to be made in-charge for two sectors each and for Inspector of Police made in-charge for four Sectors, Iqubal told officials.
Parking points have to be identified at all important locations in the city to address lack of space for parking. Motorists have to be explained about the causes of road accidents and encouraged to follow traffic rules to avoid accidents.
Traffic control systems, emergency vehicle priority, Variable Message Systems (VMS), public addressing systems, modern technology would be employed for effective traffic management, the CP noted.
Traffic ACP Ramoji Ramesh, Town ACP PV Ganesh and CIs Chittibabu, Karunakar, Ramesh, Tumma Gopi and others accompanied the Commissioner of Police during the visit.
