The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will set up an additional monitoring centre for all the CCTVs in the city. All the CCTVs in the city are connected to a monitoring centre. The centre will be set up in the Disaster Back-up centre in Parel. Setting up of the primary monitoring centre is underway at the BMC head office.
The monitoring system will cost around Rs 4.02 crores, including maintenance of five years. The Disaster Management Cell of the BMC is one of the top centres in the country. The BMC has also built another centre, which is a back-up for the original Disaster Cell in the BMC head office at CST. The civic body is trying to install each and every facility in the Parel unit, which will be a mirror image of the original Disaster Cell.

The Home Department of the state government is installing CCTV cameras across the city. The surveillance systems for these cameras are located at Mumbai Police headquarters, Police Training Centre, Kalina, Additional Police Commissioner office, Mantralay Control Room and in the Mumbai Disaster Management Cell.
